RAM Laboratories Team to Present SOA Paper at the DOD Architecture Framework Modeling (DODAF'08) Forum

San Diego, CA - April 7th, 2008 - As part of the 2008 Spring Simulation Multiconference in Ottawa Canada (SpringSim'08), RAM Laboratories, in conjunction with the Auburn Information Assurance Center (IAC), have been invited to present the paper “Supporting A Service-Oriented Architecture.”

Service-oriented Architectures (SOA) have become increasingly popular as a way to support the business processes of an organization. A SOA to system design is one where application design and development are done with the goal of producing usable services. This approach allows for the integration of applications as reusable system services. The services must have platform independent specifications that abstract the underlying complexity of the service, are loosely coupled, and, perhaps most importantly, are reusable. This paper gives an in depth overview of SOA concepts, and will briefly introduce current Enterprise Architectures, such as the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Ministry of Defense Architecture Framework (MoDAF), and The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), and discusses what is being done to address the current need for SOA.

About Auburn Information Assurance Center (IAC)

The objective of the Information Assurance Center is to study and develop new techniques of assuring secure and accurate data transmission and reception. Specific areas of concentration include: endpoint vulnerabilities, network simulation to study the impact of worms on large-scale Wide Area Networks, secure routing in ad hoc mobile networks, interoperability of networked systems, and software architectural design for interoperability. The Auburn IAC is a leader in researching the application of DoDAF architectures to information assurance and the development of DoDAF – based network simulations.

The Auburn IAC is a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Research and Education certified by The National Security Agency & the Department of Homeland Security
